Teacher Erin

Erin has a passion for co-op because of the supportive community that it provides kids and families.  She is an experienced and certified teacher and comes to us with many years as a co-op parent herself.  Erin is great with kids and has many strengths that she’s eager to share with our co-op community, starting September 2015.

Erin has a Bachelor of Science degree from UW in Urban Forestry (with a specialty in Environmental Education) and a Masters in Teaching from UW.  She’s a WA State certified teacher with endorsements in Elementary Education and Special Education.  Erin taught 1st and 2nd grades in Highline School District, has worked closely with Kindergarten classes, and has experience working with ELL and students with Special Needs. Erin’s also been a Lead Naturalist through Seattle Parks where she taught Environmental Education to Preschool-Grade 5 kids.

Erin went to co-op preschool herself as a kid and, more recently, has 6 years experience accompanying her two daughters through North Seattle College Co-ops, (including Broadview 3-5 with her younger daughter).

Erin believes that “Teaching is creating experiences for students to construct meaning.”  Erin loves helping kids learn through discovery.  She provides opportunities for kids to explore, create, discover and reason.  She creates explorations in literacy, math, science, art, gross motor and more.  Play provides the learning that preschoolers need to discover their world and learn to interact in a social setting. These experiences help kids construct meaning and gain the skills they need in preschool and beyond.

Erin lives in Seattle with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, walks with friends, riding bikes, gardening, sewing and reading.  She is thrilled to be working with the families at Broadview Co-op Preschool.
