Cooperative preschool can be so rewarding for both your child and for yourself. Your child will not only benefit from the early learning opportunities in literacy, math, art and science, but will also get to have lots of child-to-child and child-to-adult social interaction. As a parent, you will get to see your child thrive both in and out of the classroom, plus you will benefit from parent education classes and college credits from North Seattle College.

Want to come and check out cooperative preschool for yourself? Sign up for a free class today! Free trial classes are available in our Toddler (age 1 by August 31, 2016) and 3-5s classes. Our toddler class meets on Thursdays from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., while our 3-5s class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 12:00 p.m., and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Students who are going into kindergarten the following year (age four by August 31, 2016) may also attend a pre-k class every Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., which focuses on kindergarten readiness.

Bring your child and come check out our new classroom, meet our teachers, and join in the fun with our students! You will learn all about our preschool, while your child participates in a full preschool class.

One of the great things about joining a co-op preschool is the parent education. As you participate in class, you will also meet with a trained parent educator once a month. The parent education is fantastic, and covers topics appropriate for not just the current events within the children’s class, but also skills your children (and you as a parent!) can use and learn to improve family function. Each class has it’s own parent educator who will attend preschool to get to know the students (your children) and be available for questions you may have both about school or about parenting in general. Parents find them a great resource for everything from cooperation, potty training, sleep issues and more. A fantastic reason to love co-op!

Our Parent Educators for Toddlers and Pre3s:

Emily Bradley has been working with North Seattle College in Parent Education for the past two years.  Emily has a background in Developmental Psychology and Parent Education.  Formerly, she worked in the greater Southern California area for Kaiser Permanent doing workshops for parents and little ones around a variety of health related issues.  Emily also worked as a Cognitive Behavioral Training Specialist, helping families of children with special needs in the North Seattle area.  She believes in supporting parents and caregivers on their individual journeys and helping build community and common ground between families as we all work to raise our children in this modern village. Emily is the mama of three and a half year old twin boys.

Mika McAfee mika has been working with families and children in a variety of settings for over 20 years.  Prior to becoming a Parent Educator, Mika worked as a School Counselor and Mental Health Specialist in Seattle, Edmonds and Everett schools.  While participating in cooperative preschools with her own children, she was recruited as an Instructor and has been working with parents ever since.  She has an M.A.Ed. in Counseling and received additional training in Child/Human Development, Narrative Therapy and Restorative Family Conferencing.  Her educational and work experience is complemented by her role as mother of three and stepmother of one.   In her spare time Mika enjoys reading, exploring the outdoors, music and travelling with her family.

Open House!

Join Us at Broadview Co-op Preschool’s Open House!

Broadview Co-op Preschool is hosting an Open House for families with children 1 to 5 years old. We’ll have fun and engaging activities for children and their families. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday, January 31st, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Teachers Charlotte Wallstrom and Ricci Kilmer will be on hand to lead activities, answer questions, and tour families around our classroom. It’s also a great chance to meet current co-op families and learn about their experiences, too.

What’s Co-op?
A Cooperative Preschool, or Co-op, provides quality, early childhood education and parent support for families with children from infancy to Pre-Kindergarten.

Co-ops offer a community of support and education for children and their families. They differ from traditional preschools in that they’re lead by an experienced preschool teacher in conjunction with parents, and in partnership with certified Parent Educators from North Seattle College.

Broadview Co-op Preschool offers engaging early learning opportunities, accredited parent education, and family support for families in Broadview and beyond.
